New film Seance — Simon Barrett’s directorial debut after co-writing modern classics like You’re Next, The Guest, and Blair Witch with Adam Wingard — is a major topic of discussion in horror circles.

Sicker Man (AKA Tobias Vethake) is a German musician who’s been composing and arranging music for film and television for years, but Seance represents the first time he’s composed a score under the moniker of his solo project. The result is a chilling web of haunting orchestrations and cavernous, trap-laden electronic rhythms that evoke (or perhaps invoke!) the spectral qualities of the seemingly evil forces at play in the tony girls’ school where all the terrifying happenings going down as a result of some students’ bid to speak to the dead.
