Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, Arnold Schönberg Chor, Bertrand de Billy - Beethoven: Fidelio (2010)

This is not the commonly-known two-act version of Fidelio, but the first version in three acts. It is enormously enlightening to take a deeper look at the original version of this great opera. The long dialogue scenes have been replaced by text by Walter Jens and on this recording, these are read by Martin Schab.

What a pity that there are narrations between pieces :(
Broadcasting itself ?
Why did they delete them when CD was released ?
Performance is excellent !
Leonore overture No. 2.
Carl Melles, Herbert Blomstedt and René Jacobs there :)
John Eliot Gardiner has an eclectic version (1805, 1806 and 1814).
Thanks
