Phonosynthesis is the careful infusion of rock and jazz, imbued with the indomitable swagger of a classic funk band. The result: A slick combination of sonic vibration that pushes the boundaries of live music and evokes its audience to dance and shout.
Since 2011, Jon Dostou and Isaac Young have worked together on a number of inventive musical projects. Together, as the Isaac Young Quartet (IYQ) they have joined forces with Connecticut and New England’s premier bands at some of the most reputable venues across the region.
In early 2013, the duo teamed up to produce their first joint album, Staved Eve. The album did well in the CT scene, and led to extensive acclaim by fans, photographers, bloggers and members of the local media. That year with the IYQ, Dostou and Young opened for several major acts including Marco Benevento, and Alan Evans of Soulive. Later that year they opened the Second Annual Connecticut Music Awards at The Bushnell Theater in Hartford with one of their biggest crowd pleasers, Dow Jones. That was the same night they took their second award for “Best Jazz.”
Since then, they have maintained their formidable presence in the CT music scene, only to persist and expand beyond the far reaches of New England. They have been deemed "musicians' musicians" by many of their contemporaries and continue to lead the way in the Northeast with their innovative sound. Always writing new music and combining their talents with others in their field, they plan to make Phonosynthesis a name for the ages. There is no telling how far their music will go; but wherever it does, they hope to see you there.
