Maciej Kitajewski Trio - Longing Miniatures (2021)

The band Maciej Kitajewski Trio was founded in 2020. It is a classic piano jazz trio, which, apart from the leader, includes Franciszek Raczkowski (piano) and Szymon Madej (drums). Initially, the coronavirus pandemic thwarted the group's plans, but in January 2021 they won the Music and Dance Institute's "Jazz Phonographic Debut" competition, which resulted in the album "Longing Miniatures".

The album contains eight tracks: six original compositions by the leader and two arrangements of compositions by other authors. The music is mainly inspired by European jazz and classical music. The pieces follow the convention of simple, minimalist themes contrasting with the free improvisations of each member of the trio. The pieces were created in a difficult pandemic period, when the whole art world had to wait for the virus to recover, hence the title of the album "Longing Miniatures", or Miniatures of Longing.
