The albums that flowed seemingly endlessly from Eddy Arnold in the '60s usually fell into clear categories: MOR pop albums, country-pop albums, "Eddy Arnold sings the hits" collections, and thematic sets. The Everlovin' World of Eddy Arnold is one of his MOR pop efforts, crafted in the manner of a John Gary or Vic Dana record with no connection whatsoever to the world of country music. Some of his easy listening albums, especially those with uncommonly good songs or particularly evocative mood music production values, hold up quite well; others, including The Everlovin' World of Eddy Arnold, are forgettable offerings of familiar songs with paint-by-numbers arrangements. Arnold's relaxed performances are fine, and the album made the pop charts, but there is little else to distinguish it from the uncounted MOR vocal albums from this period. ~ Greg Adams
