The Road To No Town is the brand new second album from young N. Irish singer-songwriter, Matty James. It features lead single Sticks & Stones and journeys through rabble-rousing folk, country rock sing-alongs and reflective, well-versed ballads. It's the soundtrack to a bar fight and a lament for the morning after. For the rogue, the romantic and the resilient. What ties this genre-defying work together is the sheer quality of the songs, which see Matty maturing as an artist and refining his craft. Handling most of the instruments and the production himself, it features some choice guest spots including fellow Fermanagh musician Pat McManus of Mama's Boys/ Celtus on the fiddle, adding to the distinct Irish spirit in the music. Bio: Originally from a small town in Co. Fermanagh, N. Ireland, Matty James is a breath of fresh air on the current UK music scene. Part swashbuckling rocker, part acoustic balladeer, his style harks back to a bygone era when great songs and charisma triumphed over simply fitting a mould. With influences ranging from blues, folk, country, punk and rock n roll, the young troubadour has created a signature sound that draws listeners in from the off. Although proficient on several instruments, it is Matty s heartfelt songwriting and endearing gentlemen rogue stage presence that really sets him apart. With passionate lyrics and infectious melodies that always have the crowd singing along, his whiskey soaked baritone and wisely worded tales give the impression of a much older soul. Matty works tirelessly in support of his craft, already having various critically acclaimed releases to his name and constantly performing across the UK and beyond, both solo and with his full backing band; The Irregulars. Highlights include headline shows from London to Edinburgh, appearances at UK festivals; Latitude, Camden Rocks and Rebellion, plus European tours, most extensively in France. Matty released his debut album 'Last One To Die' in the summer of 2014 on Pirate Heart Records; a DIY label he founded and is distributed by Cargo Records. It includes lead single 'Up In Smoke' and boasts everything from bluesy rock n roll to dark country ballads and uplifting pop rock. He performed the instrumentation of a full band along with guest appearances from some talented friends, including Tyla J. Pallas of The Dogs D Amour. The album was received incredibly well by both fans and critics alike and remains a solid debut. In 2015, a highly successful PledgeMusic campaign was launched to make Matty's second LP, 'The Road To No Town'. It reached its target in just 4 days and finished on a staggering 218% of it's goal. The project featured many exclusives including a limited edition acoustic record entitled 'Cut To The Bone'. To celebrate, Matty hit the road across the UK with full backing band The Irregulars for the first time. After relentless touring over the last few years with only a guitar for company, the band s electrifying show made quite a stir. New album 'The Road To No Town', commercially released in 2016, features lead single 'Sticks & Stones' and journeys through rabble-rousing folk, country rock sing-alongs and reflective, well-versed ballads.
