This CD is nothing short of spectacular! I am a professional jazz singer- also Canadian, fluent in French, a published poet... originally intending a career in classical music. I say this because Karen Young has created something so artful- melding jazz, impressionism, poetry, lyricism- into something utterly unique and her own! There are many skilled craftsmen who can meld traditions successfully, and compose and arrange well... but it's a rare artist like Ms. Young who you feel is all the while guided by an expressive sense of expressive purpose that is never drowned in the many divine colours.
