The 13-year-old Korngold worked animatedly in the spirit of Richard Strauss and Reger in his Op. 1 piano trio (Krenek described it as "gushing effervescence") while later, in 1930, the suite, written for Paul Wittgenstein, produces an astonishing effect of two hands in the piano part while hardly sparing the string players with highly virtuosic demands placed on their skills as well. .
