The ninth part of the Isaak Stern edition on the Doremi label is devoted to some of the great violin concertos (Sibelius, Prokofieff, Bruch), as well as two lesser known but all the more interesting works in this musical genre. The concertos of Samuel Barber and George Rochberg (recorded in 1977 and 1980) are, unfortunately unfairly, far too rarely present in concert or even on recordings by well-known violinists. Isaak Stern performs as usual at the highest level and is accompanied by Leonard Slatkin, Charles Munch and Kiril Kondrashin, among others.
