Ekkstacy - NEGATIVE (2021)

Head to Vancouver to meet a newcomer to the music scene. This is EKKSTACY who is part of the new generation of young chamber musicians and who directly caught the eye of The Drums. At only 19 years old, he presented his first mini-album called Negative.

Listening to this first mini-album, we feel that EKKSTACY has experienced suffering, lack of self-confidence and unease throughout his life. His musical universe marked between bedroom-pop, post-punk and synthwave will act here as therapy with DIY compositions such as “i walk this earth all by myself” which opens the ball but also the scintillating “then i met her” and “ it only gets worse, i promise ”with often fatalistic texts but hints of adolescent malaise. He will be inspired by the current of Alex G on the shady "i want to be by your side" in the company of herhexxx or on the refined indie folk ballad that is "for forever" without losing this raw side. which draws its strength from the sad and modest conclusion "in love". With this Negative, EKKSTACY heals his deepest ailments and in music allowing him to seek an ounce of light in the future.
