Knaus grew up as the daughter of a German immigrant family in Salzgitter. Her father was born in Bulgaria, the mother lived in Venezuela. Her father, himself a classically trained singer who introduced her to the world of opera. Already the age of six she got piano lessons and soon began his own pieces on the piano to compose.
In 1988, she played for the first time with the salsa and latin orchestra Havana. She sang in 2 albums and toured Havana 12 years by Germany. From 1989 to 1994 and from 1995 to 1996 she studied at the Amsterdam School of the Arts (Hilversum Conservatory) jazz singing . After graduating with two diplomas she founded in Hamburg a singing school and played in various bands and orchestras. In addition, she worked as a lecturer at the Musikhochschule Hamburg and the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg and at the Thalia Theater .
In 1998 she founded her own band with Mischa Schumann, Gerold Donker and Heinz Lichius. Subsequently, she brought out four jazz albums. She has worked with Gabriel Coburg , Jonas Schoen , Sandra Hempel , Stefano Di Battista , Herb Geller , the Jazz House Orchestra, Orange Blue, etc .. From 2003, she stood with Udo Lindenberg and his revue Atlantic affairs throughout Germany as well as in Shanghai and Beijing the stage.
In 2009 she participated in the project listed in Switzerland and with Bobble Bobby McFerrin part. 2010 followed the album Tambor that of the label 105 Music Frank Ramond was produced. It's her first album with German lyrics. 2014 they released their album The Moon on My Doorstep at the label Must have Jazz (membrane) on which to a song they (Peter Fox's "I Have stones stones") english sings again.
