After graduating their concert exams with distinction from the Musikhochschule Stuttgart the siblings Daisuke & Yoko Miyazaki present their second album BEETHOVEN UND SCHUBERT HOCH ZWEI.
The sonata D Major op. 6 is one of the few of Beethoven’s original compositions for piano and four hands, and was written in his early life. It faces the following two pieces which where arranged for piano duo by Gunter Maier.
The first piano part of both works the sonata op. 49 G Major as well as the Sechs Menuette WoO 10 are the originals being extended by an accompanying second piano part.
The second part of the CD focuses the works of Schubert. Very impressive is a rare piece of Sergei Prokofiev dealing with Schubert’s music: Walzer von Franz Schubert arranged for four hands.
The CD ends with the Ländler D 370 and D 374 by Franz Schubert. Originally passed on only as fragments these two pieces have been arranged for four hands by Gunter Maier as well.
