New York City guitar garage poppers the Fuzztones spent decades playing their own spooky surf-tinged take on gritty rock & roll, touring the world and releasing albums from the mid-'80s directly through to the 2010s. Snake Oil gathers together archived odds and ends from every period of the band's existence, presenting them with snippets of radio interviews, international commercials for their albums, crowd noise from live gigs, and other sonic detritus providing interludes between the tracks. Along with live and demo versions of the band's fuzzy original nuggets, plenty of unreleased cover tunes can be heard here, including the Ramones' "53 & 3rd" as well as the MC5's "Kick Out the Jams," with special guest Rat Scabies from the Damned.
