Baby Come to Me & Other Hits Review by Andy Kellman
As the artwork indicates, Baby Come to Me and Other Hits is a cheap compilation with little thought or care involved. It does contain some of the best material from 1981's Every Home Should Have One, 1984's Patti Austin, 1985's Gettin' Away with Murder, and 1988's Real Me, but there are too many lazy oversights to make the disc a fitting summary of Patti Austin's Qwest years. The absence of "Love Me to Death," one of her best collaborations with Rod Temperton and Quincy Jones, is inexcusable, and the compilation would've been significantly enhanced by some of her best feature roles from other Qwest albums of the same era -- such as Jones' The Dude and George Benson's Give Me the Night.
