Paolo Fresu opens his label Tǔk Music, founded in 2010. The section is inaugurated by pianist Maria Cefalà ” Discovering Bach ”, to be released on January 28 on CD and digitally . The Sardinian jazz player has always looked carefully at the musical heritage of the past with reinterpretations of the repertoire of Bach, Handel, Monteverdi, Rossini and Bellini and with collaborations with Mario Brunello, Giovanni Sollima, Virtuosi Italiani, the Solisti Veneti and the Chamber Orchestra of Perugia. To confirm Fresu’s passion for the Baroque period is the first release of the new section of the label, a reinterpretation of Bach proposed by the thirty:year:old pianist from Pavia. Maria Cefalà has a particular history.

Graduated in piano at the age of 20, when she should have taken off she suffered inflammation of a nerve and for three years she could no longer play. When everything suggested that the young musician would have to give up the keyboard, it was the Ukrainian Anna Kravtchenko, an icon of world pianism, who enhanced her work by speaking of ‘Bach all’italiana’. The “Discovering Bach” project took shape from the relationship between the two musicians, which the pianist presented in an irrational way with a tour in five Italian prisons (San Vittore in Milan, Torre del Gallo in Pavia, Canton Mombello in Brescia, Poggioreale in Naples , Piccolini prison in Vigevano) talking about his story of ” renunciation and rebirth ” but also the life of Bach aiming at the humanization of the music giant.
