David Swick - Breathing Strings (2022) [Hi-Res]

Breathing Strings was created to showcase the sacred truth of "unity within diversity." It's a statement on the power of individuality within the context of community. The music is composed with basic structures that are intended to fall apart from each other. Each musician listens to their own breathing pattern to play their part of the piece and the result becomes a wave-like, drone that moves slowly between chords. There is a tension inherent to the music that acts as a mirror to the blessed tension within functioning communities. With dissonance acting as the norm, moments of unity are able to be held as gifts and “happy accidents” within the piece.
