1000 years of "The necklace of the dove" (1022-2022). Ibn Hazm of Córdoba was born in 994 and lived through the most critical years of Andalusian Islam. His time witnessed the dissolution of the caliphate and the formation of the Taifas that had to accelerate the decline of Muslim power in the Iberian Peninsula. He is a privileged witness of these events, and attests with an encyclopedic, fruitful and rich work. The Necklace of the Dove —Ṭawq al-ḥamāma— is an 11th-century work written in Arabic and in prose by Ibn Hazm. The full title of the work is "The necklace of the dove, on love and lovers" and reflects the custom in Arabic literature of the time to create ornamental titles: the dove is pretty, but her necklace is what beautifies her, so it is the ultimate beauty.
