The Original Burning Spear collects tracks from two of the best early Burning Spear albums, 1975's Marcus Garvey and 1976's Man in the Hills, both of which were produced by Jack Ruby. Included here are such Spear classics as "Man in the Hills," "Marcus Garvey," "Lion," and "Get Ready," taken from what is arguably the best recording era of his long career. If there is a problem here, it is with the sound reproduction, which appears to have been drawn from vinyl sources rather than from master tapes, making this a dubious investment when both of the original albums are readily available.~The Original Burning Spear Review by Steve Leggett
