The whole piece is not as "daring" as the cantata BWV 176 begins with its bursting choral tutti. Rather, courtly and elegant motifs predominate in the arias. And the Trinity, which lends its name to the performance Sunday, gives Bach the opportunity for a little combinatorial marvel on the number 3. At the end is a very confessional, strong chorale that defies defiance and lifts up the despondent.

BWV 155 suggests to us that "from his heart he thee would sadden, so that his gracious light to thee appear e'en still more lovely". One wishes that this were true for the year 2021! However, we are urged at the end in the chorale: "Yet let thyself not shudder!" - Once again, a Bach cantata with a small cast proves to be a great musical treasure chest. The solo part of the bassoon, which usually accompanies, is particularly striking.

A "stunner"! The cantata BWV 126 "Maintain us, Lord, within thy word" can hardly be described more briefly and accurately. This applies both to the textual content and to the music. The chorale mace strikes hard as early as the second line of the opening chorus ("Control the murd'rous Pope and Turk"), and in Aria No. 4 entire statues are destroyed ("Crash down in ruin, arrogant bombast!"). Not for the faint-hearted - nor is the music: nonetheless, reconciliation will not be lacking in the course of the piece and will even delight the audience in the final chorale.
