We are so happy and excited to share our latest tunes on the album “El Butcho” with you. This has been a challenging year, but we have made a product that reflects our progress as a band since our first album (”Soupe de Loop”, 2019).

In November 2020 we met on the idyllic island Fanø, which is located in the western part of Denmark, where we wrote new tunes and arranged not yet recorded tunes that made the fundament for this album. This was a good way for us to meet, because of new life circumstances where we now live in different cities very far apart — Danish distances!

Of course, we wanted Stefan Friis Ringive on the trombone again, but we also wanted to expand our sound on some of the tunes, so we added the guitar which is featured by Bo Møller.

The music of “El Butcho” is moving between genres and different types of music. We have as individual composers our stories to tell, and even though the songs are very diverse, the essence and direction is reflecting our “Flat Bop”-way of playing. This time we also made a songbook with all of our lead sheets, and small backstories about them as well.

“El Butcho” is recorded as a live session in one takes with focus on improvisation, interplay, and sound. We strive after making our songs as alive as possible and feel that this method represents us in the best way possible. We hope you enjoy our songs, as much as we do!
