Gifted with an elegant and ductile voice, the Texan singer Vikki Carr (El Paso, 1941) was able to adapt to various styles. Early on as a pop singer, she had her first hits in the 1960s with singles like "He's a Rebel" and "It Must Be Him." Carr, however, would achieve her greatest success from the 1980s singing romantic ballads in Spanish for the Latin market. Among her most remembered productions from this time are Vicki Carr and Love (1980) and Things of Love (1991), the latter winner of the Grammy. In the new millennium, her records and compilations continued to reap excellent sales in many Latin American countries.
