Otha Young's writing style has always seemed to suit Newton's vocal style the best, and that continues to be the case with this record. Of the two tracks written by her labelmate, Bob Seger, "Fire Down Below" works the best, though Newton's soaring voice doesn't quite equal Seger's growl. © Jim Worbois
