With a voice that is as powerful as it is honest, Grainne Duffy’s new single “Where I Belong,” is a true testament to her talent as a vocalist, guitarist and songwriter.
Guitarist Magazine describes Grainne Duffy as having a “deliciously soulful voice and gutsy blues inflected guitar work in one compelling package.” Having performed at numerous famous music festivals including Glastonbury, Blue Balls, Blues du Passion, and Tremblant International Festival, she caught the attention of renowned producer Justin Stanley (Beck, Eric Clapton) and multi–Grammy Award winning engineer, Adam Ayan (Madonna, The Rolling Stones) of whom she had the privilege to work with.
Grainne Duffy is a guitar player, singer and songwriter from Ireland with a sound reminiscent of Memphis blues. Grainne Duffy has risen to become an in-demand performer across the globe. Raised in Castleblayney, Monaghan Co, as a young girl, Duffy sang with her sisters in the choir, soon discovering the works of Fleetwood Mac and Peter Green. It is easy to say, Duffy was inspired to study the power blues – learning the blue powerhouses of BB, Albert and Freddie.
In 2007, Duffy released her debut album Out of the Dark, which led to her performance at the world-famous Glastonbury Festival (UK). Her second album, Test of Time, was released to the praise of critics and fans alike in 2011. By 2014, Duffy played many of the finest festivals in Europe: Notodden (Norway), Dark Season Blues at the Arctic Pole (Svalbard, Norway), Blue Balls (Switzerland), Aosta Soul & Blues (Italy), The Great British R&B in UK. The same year Duffy won two awards from the BM Writers Poll in the U.K. for “Best Female Vocalist” and “Best Live Performer.” Duffy soon became a sought after performer within in the U.K. festival circuit. Her unique voice, skillful guitar playing and intoxicating stage presence have impressed audiences all over the world, performing at festivals in Canada, Australia, Asia and even Africa (Tanjazz Festival, Morocco). Duffy is currently working on her next LP due out in September 2017.
