The GSC compilation 36 All-Time Greatest Hits does offer three-dozen solid songs by Dinah Shore, one of America's foremost entertainers from the '40s to the '60s, though they're scattered across three discs and the performances are of a dodgy vintage. The note on the back -- "All tracks originally recorded prior to 1972" -- might soothe the fears of some, but it raises more questions than it answers: at what point in Shore's career were these recorded, and with whom? Unfortunately, buyers are no wiser after unwrapping the CD than they were before.
