"Fumio Yasuda (composition) and Stefan Winter (sound art) conceive a trilogy based on Ludwig van Beethoven in the timbres “Infinite Blue”, “Deep Green” and “Zone Red”. Conducted by Aarón Zapico, Ferhan & Ferzan Önder (piano), Joachim Badenhorst (clarinet), Gareth Davis (bass clarinet), Kelvin Hawthorne and Klaus-Peter Werani (viola) performs. Mathis Nitschke and Stefan Winter create a dialogue with the narrative power of the noises. The Ninth Wave is about the beauty of nature and the tragedy of the human within it. "Beethoven as a total work of art" was the headline in the Süddeustsche Zeitung when "The Ninth Wave" was performed in Munich as a co-production of Neue Klangkunst and Deutschlandfunk. Beethoven's oeuvre, Géricault's painging "The Raft of the Medusa " and Dante's book ”Divine Comedy" are the base for this work ... but there is also a concrete trigger: the tragedy off the shore of Lampedusa on October 3, 2013."
