Placid Angles - Touch The Earth Remixes (2022)

Touch The Earth, John Beltran's third artist album under the Placid Angles project, appeared last year on Figure. Now it gets the remix treatment from some of electronic music's most respected names. In Marcel Dettmann's hands, "Chakwaina" becomes a chord-heavy, sub-sonic piece of deep techno and Cassy turns "Deep Blue" into a jacking, heads-down track. In contrast, Mike Paradinas' take on "Beauty Begins With Us" under his u-Ziq guise is a dreamy break beat track, and the collection contains a rare remix from Plaid, with the feted UK duo transforming "Natsukashii" into a beautiful piece of psychedelic electronica. Beltran's own version of "When The Sun Shines Through" is also worthy of attention, a blissed out piece of ambience.
