A U.K. swing revival outfit led by reedsman John Wallace (formerly of retro soul outfit the Stargazers, and before that, 1980s one-hit wonders JoBoxers) and singer-actor David Howarth, the Hep Chaps deliver a stylish take on vintage swing that lacks the arch garishness of the late '90s swing revival. Think of a wise-guy blend of Count Basie and 1970s revivalists Dr. Buzzards Original Savannah Band. Highlights include "Hoover the Duvet" and "Close Your Eyes."
