The Curitiba group Jazz Cigano Quinteto and the Brazilian guitarist Yamandu Costa launch this Friday, on digital platforms, the album that is called, precisely, “Jazz Cigano Quinteto e Yamandu Costa”.
“Jazz Cigano Quinteto e Yamandu Costa” conquered an ocean of distance to be produced (Yamandu Costa lives in Portugal) and brings together compositions from the quintet and the guitarist. “In jazz, the only arrangements that exist are how it's going to start and how it's going to end. Our biggest challenge was to stop and think about what was going to happen in this music scene”, says Vinicius Araújo, guitarist for Jazz Cigano. That's because the distance could interfere in the improvisation, in the unarranged part of the music. But the end result satisfied everyone involved.
