A colorful Aussie glam punk unit formed in 1974 by British immigrants Gary Twinn and siblings Chris and Joe Burnham, Supernaut hit it big in 1976 with the single "I Like It Both Ways," which peaked at the number five slot in their native Australia. Mid-'70s mainstays of popular regional music programs like Countdown and Bandstand, the band's eponymous Polydor debut sat proudly at number one and eventually went double gold, but the band, despite keeping busy and churning out some memorable singles, including a hit cover of the Rolling Stones' "Let's Spend the Night Together," ultimately failed to recapture the glory of their 1976 inauguration. They left Polydor in 1978 and moved to Wizard Records where they dialed back on the glitter and doubled down on their punk roots, releasing another eponymous album, this time under the moniker the Nauts, before disbanding the following year. ~ James Christopher Monger
