Equal parts warm chamber pop and eerie downtempo, Mines Falls is a collaboration between New Hampshire-born, California-based brothers Carson and Erik Lund. Drawing inspiration from the cavernous landscapes of the Eastern Sierras and the Mojave Desert, the Lunds build dense, layered soundscapes around glacial piano ballads. Where debut album "Nepenthe" catalogued songwriter Carson Lund’s confrontation with a friend’s sudden passing and the end of a relationship, their self-titled follow-up shifts toward a more panoramic perspective, tackling the ambiguity and despair of our contemporary moment through a succession of elliptical tales that toggle between political anger and wistful remembrance.
