After living and studying with giants of jazz in New York City last year, and putting together a collection of all new works, Elly Hoyt is back with her new album and new sound to Bennetts Lane. Her new album, Oranges & Sunshine, being launched tonight, is the offering she promised after receiving the Best Australian Jazz Vocal Album Award in 2011.

Elly consistently captures audiences with her soulful and seductive voice, and her disarmingly natural stage presence. At only 26, she has the uncanny ability to invoke the charge given to past greats and take it somewhere new, especially somewhere with groove. Elly released her debut self-titled album in late 2010 to rave reviews and awards, but this album, sculpted with time, experience and a pozible campaigne, is the work of an energetic, seasoned and dedicated music maker.

James Morrison: "From the moment I first heard Elly sing, I knew she had that classic, indefinable thing that makes one a jazz singer. It's not just a sound, or a choice of notes but a way of approaching a song that lets the listener know - this is the real thing".

Featuring: Scott Griffiths, Darryn Farrugia & Jonathan Zion and special guests on didgeridoo & strings.
