After his American experience he decides to engrave his music by setting up a quartet, and to make his debut as a band leader the saxophonist Giovanni Fochesato. He composes, arranges and performs his songs with a modern charm, but, with an eye to the great authors of the past, from whom, at times blatantly and almost ironically, he takes inspiration for the compositions of the album; It is impossible not to notice 'Ellingtonian' influences in the melodies, typical harmonies of the trumpeter 'Kenny Wheeler', typical structures of the 'Bob Brookmeyer' school, typical sounds of 'Gil Evans' orchestras. As these composers are famous for their works in big bands, this quartet wants to bring the sounds of these larger groups back into a 'conventional' formation, streamlining, for obvious reasons, the sonic result, but, at the same time,
result obtained thanks to the remarkable and refined sound contribution of the guitarist Luca De Toni, the bassist Martino De Franceschi and the drummer Marco Soldà, whose style is perfectly suited to the composer's wishes: their sounds and their musical ideas best reflect what the composer wants to make the listener perceive. Fresh sounds, fluid sounds, original ideas, modern interplay, are just some of the aspects that give a unique timbre to this album, which is integrated into the spectrum of contemporary music, with a look to the past, but, with the desire for the future.
