Tradition is the key word to describe The Parsonage Melodies. The Danish tradition of exceptional bassists. The Scandinavian tradition for smiling melancholy and beautiful minor melodies. The jazz tradition of inventiveness and great instrumental flights. Poulsen's Acoustic Guild, which has traveled most of the world, has now returned to the lakes, forests and tones of Scandinavia and the 250-year-old double bass of Henrik Simonsen.

All of Præstegårds Melodier's compositions were inspired by the landscapes around his village and parsonage where he recorded the album. These are melodies written during the confinements of 2020, like a walk in the Danish landscapes. Præstegårds Melodier tells the journey of two characters through a landscape of legends. At first glance, everything seems known, but we quickly realize that many surprises are hidden: what are we going to be able to find on the next detour?

Henrik Simonsen and Hasse Poulsen have been playing together since the late 80s when they hosted birthday parties and weddings when. both explored the strange paths uncovered by Hasse's musical experimentation. With Præstegårds Melodier, Hasse explains where he comes from. Henrik meanwhile reveals that alongside the delicate accompanist there is a sharp soloist.
