Two-time Grammy Award-winner Sylvia McNair is the leading interpreter of the American Popular Song. She started her career on the opera stage where she appeared regularly at the Vienna State Opera, the Salzburg Festival, the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden, the Santa Fe Opera, the San Francisco Opera and New York’s Metropolitan Opera. She has two honorary doctorates in Music, won the prestigious Marian Anderson award, and has performed in command recital performances for Pope John Paul II, Hillary Clinton, and Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.

McNair left the opera field for a series of concerts with the great symphonies of the world. She recorded two albums with pianist Andre Previn, both of which won her the prestigious Grammy Award. She also recorded an album, “The Land Where the Good Songs Go” for Harbinger Records. Now, she is back with Harbinger Records with a delightful new recording titled “Subject to Change!”

The recording is a delightful mix of old and new standards interpreted as only Sylvia McNair can. Accompanied with a trio of excellent jazz musicians, Ted Taylor, Jeremy Allen, and Steve Houghton, McNair runs the gamut from the Gershwins to Sondheim to Bernstein and Arlen and covers recent hits as well as jazz standards. She will be touring the country singing in clubs and with major orchestras with this wonderful repertoire. “Subject to Change!” is a major new jazz recording by one of the greatest jazz interpreters.

“The full package that Sylvia McNair offers is consistently entertaining, and listening to what she has achieved on this recording is time well spent.” – Joe Lang, Jersey Jazz
