One of the most beautiful and melodious piano collections that I have come across lately. Ashkenazi Sr. despite his venerable age (74 years old) is still in great shape, Ashkenazi Jr. (I wonder how old he must be to stop being called Vovka?) he successfully tries to keep up with his father. Glinka's charmingly lyrical Waltz-fantasy and Borodin's Polovtsian Dances, Mussorgsky's expressive Night on Bald Mountain and Scriabin's Fantasy in A Minor, and Rachmaninov's unexpectedly repetitive, almost minimalist Russian Fantasy CD - an hour of pure piano pleasure.
