The music of "Energía • Live" was recorded as a live concert on April 8th, 2022, at Sala Carmelo Castilla in Centro Cultural Rafael Morales (Talavera de la Reina, Spain).
With Energía — Live, his first concert recording, Madrid-based tenor saxophonist Daniel Juárez captures the thrill and immediacy of playing a live set and documenting the raw result: no safety net, no edits, no overdubs. Juárez has honed his voice as a composer and bandleader over the course of three bracing studio albums, beginning in 2014 with Caminos and continuing with Neuronal Odd World (2017) and Tales from Some of Those Lands (2019). These recordings presented wide-ranging sonic landscapes and a changing cast of players, but they shared one thing in common: not only the searching intensity of Juárez’s horn but the bristling, inventive guitar work of Álvaro del Valle, a collaborative anchor for Juárez going back many years. On Energía — Live, the Juárez-del Valle connection is heard in its most intimate and compelling manifestation yet, with bassist Darío Guibert and drummer Rodrigo Ballesteros completing the vibrant quartet lineup.
