(1947-55) (73:52/26) Einer der großen Unbekannten des R&B ist Gitarrist Jimmy 'Big Face' Lewis, dessen Karriere in den späten 50er Jahren endet und dessen Spur sich nach 1963 endgültig verliert. Blues und Balladen, begleitet von Lewis' verzerrter an T-Bone erinnernde Gitarre. Teils grossartiges, teils seichtes Material / one of the great unknowns in the history of r&b. After recording a couple of great sides, he disappeared from the music scene. Influenced by T-Bone Walker, his guitar tone is slightly distorted. A mix of blues and sweet ballads.
