The Nightcrawlers are a quintet of Vancouver musicians dedicated to preserving the sound and vibe of the great 1960s Hammond B3 organ bands. Inspired by the music of Brother Jack McDuff, “The Mighty Burner” Charles Earland, Big John Patton, and Booker T and the MG’s, the Nightcrawlers play gritty, soulful, down home music that’s all about having a good time.
With a combination of grit and soul, plus successful collaborations with music legends such as Red Holloway, David “Fathead” Newman and Jim Byrnes, the Nightcrawlers have been making fans all across the country. The spectacular sound of the Hammond organ, a powerful horn section, and the irrepressible drumming of band leader Jesse Cahill never fails to whip audiences into a frenzy.
The band’s debut album, Presenting, was nominated for Album of the Year at the National Jazz Awards in 2009 and features Canadian alto saxophonist Cory Weeds, tenor saxophonist Ian Hendrickson-Smith of The Roots, Sharon Jones, Amy Winehouse, and MoFro fame. The group's funky back beat is filled by one of Canada's premier drummer Jesse Cahill and features soulful guitarist Dave Sikula and versatile keyboardist Chris Gestrin on the B3 Organ.
