Intimate, sensitive and flamboyant... This programme, carefully thought out by the clarinettist Franck Russo, showcases the wonderful vocality of the chamber music works of Robert Schumann and Franz Schubert. Above and beyond the notes, the chosen lieder texts resound in a resolutely romantic fashion: the idea of both love and nature as places of refuge unites all the pieces on this recording. As a duo, trio, the piano, a close companion to the voice in the lieder, mixes marvellously with the three different clarinets used for this programme.
