Inspired by the music of Brownie McGhee and Sonny Terry, the blues duo Beam & Fink started as an acoustic side project from their full-volume soul band. Over time, Beam & Fink developed their own stripped-down sound as they explored the roots of American Music.

The album "Don't Sell It" was intended to be an investigative tool to discover and rearrange songs from the Public Domain. As the project took shape, a few of the duo's originals seemed to fit nicely with the deep cuts. Finally, eleven tracks were crafted for this debut recording.
