Chico Buarque - Nao Vai Passar Vol. 1 (1992)

In 1992, the RGE label released four compilations in the Chico Buarque series Não Vai Passar. This is volume one of that series, bringing some of Buarque's compositions from the wonderful 1964/1966 period, including the very first song he composed, "Tem Mais Samba" (1964). Delicious acoustic sambas with delicate, economic, and truly carioca samba arrangements. Social critic, Buarque's trademark, is shown on "Pedro Pedreiro," while more existential themes are explored in "Ela Ee Sua Janela." "A Banda," presented with national success by Nara Leão in the II FMPB in 1966 (first place, together with Geraldo Vandré's "Disparada"), is included, as is the extremely beautiful "Olê Olá." A good way of knowing the work of one of the most important Brazilian composers, but superfluous for those who already have his discography.
