A collection dedicated to the centenary of the birth of the super popular Japanese composer Akira Ifukube (1914-2006), the author of soundtracks for Godzilla and other monster movies in his homeland. Based on folk motifs, his music is light and melodic, unhurried, like a trickle of water in a Japanese garden, and meditative, like admiring cherry blossoms. In addition to the music of the maestro himself, the disc features two tributes by contemporary Japanese composers on the most famous musical themes of Ifukube.
