Heinz Rogner - Tchaikovsky: Ballet Music Highlights (1981) [2022 SACD]

All three types of "Tchaikovsky's Three Great Ballet Highlights", known as Heinz Rögner's hidden masterpiece, have been assembled into a two-disc set. Each is planned as an excerpt of about 50 minutes each, not all songs, "The Sleeping Beauty" in November 1980, "The Nutcracker" in August and November of the following year, and "Swan" in November of the same year. It is a sound source that was released independently by recording "The Sleeping Beauty". In addition to the mellow sound of German Schallplatten at the end of analog recording, the large-scale expression of Rögner was a recording that became popular in some parts as ballet music of a masterpiece to be listened to symphonically. In the domestic CD, one of the three major ballets that was further excerpted was also released, but this time it is recorded in a two-disc set in the order of the work number in order to reproduce it as a song selection with the original planning intention. In addition, the track allocation of each board this time follows the one at the time of LP release (different from the conventional commercial CD).

The performance is drawn so that you can thoroughly enjoy the song itself, and it is characterized by its solid sound quality and majesty as if you were listening to a symphony. The expression, which seems to be reminiscent of individual dramas, is reminiscent of Rögner's long opera experience and the playing history of Romantic music. It is interesting that the sincere performance unique to the former East German era reverberates as if it brings a kind of immersive feeling in ballet music. Although it is a unique performance, it goes well with Russian performances, and it is no wonder that it has a reputation as a hidden masterpiece.
