Erik Darling - Banjo Music of the Southern Appalachians (1965)

A classic bluegrass-folk album that originally appeared in 1956, “Banjo Music Of The Southern Appalachians” featuring the great Erik Darling on banjo, is prsented here as an extended edition of the original album featuring bonus tracks culled from a 1959 session and some tracks from 1964. The majority of the tunes featured were originally collected by folklorist Cecil Sharp in the southern mountains between 1916 and 1918, with more modern tunes thrown in for good measure. Along with Darling on banjo, Robin Roberts makes appearances on guitar with vocals provided by the legendary Kossoy Sisters. All selections have been newly remastered.
