Born in 1973 in Verdun, Damien Prud'homme studied saxophone at the Metz Regional Conservatory, where he obtained his gold medal and his Interregional Prize, as well as a Gold Medal for chamber music. In 1995, he obtained his State Diploma in saxophone and began to teach his instrument in various music schools. He is currently Professor of Art Education and coordinator of the jazz department of the CRR of Metz metropolis.
Alongside his classical curriculum, he turned to jazz at the age of 20, which would become his favorite playground. He made several stays in New York to meet jazzmen like Chris Cheek, Tony Malaby, Dony McCaslin, Eric Alexander, Rick Margitza,…
It is in 20 years of scenic experiences and travels (in Russia, India, South America, USA, Asia, Japan and Europe…) that the artist from Lorraine forges his rich and emotional playing.
He multiplies formulas and experiences: artistic director of "Mister Oz's Big Band" (Tribute to Django, Sting, Franck Sinatra...) and of the "Glenn swing Orchestra", leader of the group TRILOGIQU3 (with Franck Agulhon and Gautier Laurent), sideman in several ensembles: Greg Lamy Quartet, Soul Blade Orchestra, Orchester National de Jazz de Luxembourg…
He participated in several musicals as a multi-instrumentalist (Saxophones, flutes, clarinets): Chicago, Sister Act, Beauty and the Beast, Cats, (Théâtre Mogador, Paris), West Side Story, Avenue "Q", Addams Family, La Cage aux Folles, Rocky Horror Show, Spamalot, The end of the Raimbow (in Germany), Frankenstein Junior (Opéra Théâtre de Metz)…
Driven by his thirst for transmitting, he has been teaching since 2008 at the CRR of Metz Métropole. He also organizes Jam Sessions, gives Master Classes, as well as educational concerts in schools.
Finally, he composes, arranges and responds to orders for formations as varied as harmony orchestras, string ensembles, saxophone octet, big band...
