In 2005 I put together my own group. I had been writing a certain kind of songs since the late 80s, with no plans to actually perform them. They didn't fit into the contexts in which I played, and weren't exactly within any clear genre. But sometime after we stopped playing a lot with Alwa, and I was looking for some other way to play in a group, I wanted to try those songs in a jazz setting, even though it wasn't what is usually described as jazz songs. It was then new to me to be the group leader and make all the decisions about how we would play the songs. The first and most important thing was to figure out which musicians I wanted to include in the group, which actually took several years. The pictures above and below are from a gig at Mejeriet's jazz brunch in 2006 (photo by Orion Righard). Johan Ohlsson, piano, Mats Ingvarsson, bass and Peter Nilsson, drums.
Our third record is made by the same team as the first two. We recorded at Tambourine in Malmö, which was a nice reunion in the venue where Agurk Players recorded their first, and only, full-length CD in 1992. The cover was made by Oskar Ponnert again, this time based on his own photo.
