Jazz is an allegory for life. And for both, gaining independence is a long process. That is the narrative of IN DEPENDENCE. Stephanie Lottermoser's new album is about striving for independence in all facets of life: "There really is no such thing as complete independence. We are all integrated into structures in which we operate. Sometimes that runs through your whole life.”

Musically, Stephanie Lottermoser has consistently taken her freedom from the start and has long since found an independent and recognizable language. Already with the opener "Love Again" it becomes clear: This is Stephanie Lottermoser. Stylistically, she remains true to her predecessor album "Hamburg" with her synthesis of jazz, soul, funk and pop: "In the best sense, I try to develop myself musically by working on my own sound and freeing myself from the expectations of others."

The result: Eleven songs with clear compositional lines, catchy melodies, emotional appeal and subtle virtuosity, far removed from academic sobriety and affinity for technology. Stephanie Lottermoser took everything into her own hands on this album, from the composition and the selection of the musicians to the production.

IN DEPENDENCE is Stephanie Lottermoser's most personal work to date. While the predecessor "Hamburg" told of the magic of starting a new phase of life, "In-Dependance" is rich in intimate biographical insights and moments in a new reality. Tracking down these little glimpses with the music is possible, but not a requirement for exploring the album. First of all, the music stands for itself. A subtle listen, however, reveals the full intensity of the songs. Stephanie Lottermoser reveals hidden narratives, thoughts and her personal utopias. To do this, she uses the form of expression that is closest to her: music. Each composition on IN DEPENDENCE is like its own diary entry.

With IN DEPENDENCE, Stephanie Lottermoser has created a personal and emotional album with an exciting sound language. A musical milestone on your way to independence. (Nabil Atassi)
