Emily Sheppard - Age-old (2023) Hi-Res

Age-old is a collaboration between the multi-talented composer, performer and marine scientist Emily Sheppard, and celebrated singer song-writer Claire Anne Taylor.

Age-old explores the intersectionality of invisibility; the complex ways that age and gender interact with culture and place within the arts industry and community.

Drawing on interviews from a diverse cross-section of artists and community members, as well as the lived experiences of the writers, this suite of instrumental and vocal chamber music examines these themes in first-person from birth to old age.

As well as the challenges of invisibility, and the need to work ‘hell for leather’ before it’s too late, the music also celebrates the joy, wisdom and acceptance that comes with the latter stages of life.
