Empress recorded a few tracks for Prelude in the early '80s, most notably "Dyin' to Be Dancin'" and "Take a Risk." Though her output was minimal, the black diva holds a certain place in history because of her affiliation with Prelude, the most influential disco label of the early '80s. In 1992 Unidisc released a best-of collection, Dyin' to Be Dancin', that compiled Empress' Prelude recordings, including three different mixes of the title track.
