EM28 was recorded in Kingston & St. Ann, Jamaica. It is the solo debut vocal EP project of ‘Equiknoxx’ member, Nick Deane formerly Bobby Blackbird. Deane, from his recording locations in Kingston and St. Ann takes us on a journey to Ilė Ifẹ̀, an ancient Yoruba city. ”Look At My Skin” sees him time traveling to the Kingdom of Benin, the city of Accra and engaging the first director and curator of Liberty Hall: Donna McFarlane in the spiritual home of Jamaican national hero Marcus Garvey. As ‘All Orisha become one’, a nod to oneness and African fluidity, the melody and melanin bind us all: “Out of Many One People”.

Equiknoxx songbird ‘Shanique Marie’ is featured on ‘Rich Like Oprah’ and Equiknoxx extended family member, ‘Brent Bird’ (Brother to Gavsborg) produces the entire EP in his trademark, chop, pitch and warp production style. More Equiknoxx/Brent Bird production collab can be heard on Equiknoxx’s tune ‘Manchester’ ft. Fox.

Nick Deane on the release:
"The cover art is a nod to the Orisha, Eshu: the mischievous Yoruba deity who teaches that there are always two sides to every issue. This theme plays out on tracks like “Rich Like Oprah” and “X Man” where the motivations for some of our universal desires are fleshed out".
